For this project I read Shades of Gray, Bill Cosby: Time Flies, and Rivers Edge: The Weezer Story.

I read 21 and a half hours. 2 books just starting my third, and like 700 pages or so.

I think I gained a lot from this reading experience. I think I like to read action books like Shades of Gray and biographies if they are on something interesting. I think I will continue to keep reading if I can make room for it around tv and PBS. I definitely think that I will read more now after this project than I had previously though. All thanks to Strusz!

=w= 4Life

First off i want to say i really enjoy reading biographies. I just like reading about peoples lives, if they are interesting. I am currently reading Rivers Edge: The Weezer Story. So far it has mostly been about Weezer's lead singer-Rivers Cuomo's bizarre childhood. Rivers started out in a metal band after discovering his love for metal through the band Kiss. The band was young and pretty much barely made it on the money they made not knowing what apartment they would be staying in the next night most of the time. I just got to the part where the genre was changing and Rivers started to like the alternative beat and meets the future drummer of Weezer, Pat Wilson.

So, I believe a good theme for my book would be dedication, and following your dream and not giving up. Rivers Cuomo grew up on an ashram excluded from the real world. When he first heard a Kiss record he was infatuated. In highschool he decided he wanted to be a Rock Star and he followed that dream.

I am going to be starting "The Rivers' edge: the weezer story" as of tomorrow. Therefore, I don't have a book to apply a bible passage to for this weeks theme. So, good ole Mr. Strusz told me to apply a passage to real life...

I always thought Deuteronomy 33:27 "The eternal God is your refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms" was a cool passage to live by. Yeah, kinda makes you feel safe.

Still currently at 14 and a half hours.

Oops #2

I finally finished the book Time Flies. It took me way longer than it should've. Here are 5 pictures describing the book.

So far i've read just shy of 600 pages, 2 books, and 14 and a half hours.

I didn't read much this week. Nevertheless, Cosby is describing coping with middle age. I learned that there is such a thing as trifocals. At first I wondered if it was true, but why would Bill lie? The book is rather funny, I'd probably appreciate it more if I were older. I haven't had a lot of time to read, but I hope to finish Time Flies this week so I can start my Weezer book :)

Oops.

I read the book review Matched by Ally Condie on youngadultbookreviews.com

This review was very descriptive, yet I don't think it gave too much of the story away. It was pretty decent.

So I've been reading Bill Cosby-Time Flies. I think it's difficult o blog about this book since there isn't really a storyline. Bill Cosby has given me a few hearty chuckles with his opinions on aging. So far the book is mostly about the downsides of aging. But I'm eager to see where Bill takes it from here.

I finished Shades of Gray! Except the epilogue... It was REALLY good.

I decided a theme song for my book would either be Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down OR The Greatest Man That Ever Lived by Weezer, I couldn't decide. I think the lyrics from the Weezer song fit my book well.

An Unhealthy Habit.

So, for this week we are supposed to compare our reading habits to another habit that consumes a lot of our time. For instance, over spring break I read about 2 hours. I didn't really keep track of how much TV i watched, but i think it was somwhere in the ballpark of 13-16 hours. This exceeds the total amount I have spent reading for this project. Yikes. Some may think i could've used my time more wisely. This is true. Although I did watch a lot of PBS and learned a lot. I watched a documentary on how the wolf population is escalading in Wisconsin and also my fair share of Antiques Roadshow. That is time well spent.

Since I blogged last i finished the 'Then' section i was reading. Blackout, Jet's father has been beating his wife Angelica. Eventually the shadow power and voices in his head have taken so much control of him he ends up killing Angelica. Luckily Luster and Night come and save Jet before her father killed her too. Night has decided that he will become a professor at the Academy in time so he will be able to train Jet, the only shadow power left besdies him since the hauled Blackout off to Blackbird Prison.

Next is the 'Now' section. If you can recall Jet got pretty beat up in a fight with Doctor Hypnotic-a rabid who escaped from Blackbird Prison. Up until this point Jet had voices in her head, since she is a shadow power. It is said that most shadow powers end up going crazy just as Jet's father did. She had presently been using white noise from her comlink to cope with this. Well, during her fight with Doctor Hypnotic he must have gotten into her head and turned off the voices, it was a pleasant change for Jet. Meanwhile, Taser had rounded up a runner network making it much easier for the extrahumans to help capture rapids. So, Iridium had gone into the warehouse that was Dr. Hypnotics temporary lair with her father and the goons that broke out of Blackbird with him. Jet and the other good guys back at HQ come to save Iridium who is already under a zombie-like trance. Jet is the only one who can takd down Hypnotic and right as she is about to finish him, he makes the voices come back to her head.

Meanwhile...

So i was at my grandma's watching The Titanic. That was just depressing me so i had to come home and blog. Sorry i'm posting at such an hour Mr. Strusz.

1. I don't remember the last time i went to a library. However, I was in a bookstore a few months ago...it goes by the name of BOOKWORLD...you may have heard of it. Of course i hear it's nothing compared to Apple Blossom Books! ANYWAYS, all i remember is it had creaky, sinking floors with tacky carpeting. I didn't really know where to look for books, or find any that interested me for that matter. I also didn't get the instant ambition to read as i would when i walk into say... Barnes & Noble. Well, there you have it.

2. I'm in a pretty big 'Then' section in my book. Basically, Night a shadow power is angry at his team-mates for getting married and pregnant...or pregnant and married. Since Corp developed the comlink all of the Mind Powers went crazy, probably because of the extra voices in their ear. Therefore, they locked most of them up in jail. Well, Night thought that his team-mates needed a real villian to get them set back on their real purpose rather than having a family. So he let Dr. Hypnotic loose. Currently Blackout and Angelica are married and Luster and Vixen are married. Interesting little fact: Dr. Hypnotic and Angelica are former lovers. So Hypnotic goes to New York kills like thousands of people there! So Team Alpha goes to save the day. Angelica confronts Dr. Hypnotic and cons him into thinking she still loves him so he lets his guard down. Then she dukes it out with him, but he doesn't even defend himself because he loves her. I left off there so i don't know what happens next! I know right?! it's a page turner!

I had a rather unproductive week. I read just shy of 2 hours :/. Sadly, i don't think i will beat Mr. Strusz. Keeping my hopes high though. I'm almost finished with my book!
